Infectious diseases are the leading causes of morbidity and mortality around the world and especially among low- and middle-income countries. Rapid, cost-effective, and point-of-care testing is feasible to develop and implement considering the availability of vast amounts of genomic information. Alantis Sciences is engaged in such an endeavour to develop rapid diagnostic tests for such human diseases as Malaria, Leptospirosis and Tuberculosis. Proof of concept of unique assay systems are already in place and the company is in the process of taking this to the next step of implementation.
Persistent epigenetic and genetic changes in the genes cooperate to evolve irreversible transformation of cells leading to the genesis of cancer. These genes are ideal targets of tumour diagnosis as well as therapy. Alantis is working towards a) early clinical translation of such discoveries by developing advanced non-invasive diagnostic platforms to enable successful implementation and b) developing suitable drugs for treatment using chemical entities, neutralizing antibodies as well as nucleic based therapeutics in the field of cervical, oral and breast cancers.
Drug discovery programs when coupled to smart technologies may have reduced pre-clinical failures and higher chances of success in clinical trials. Combining nature inspired knowledge and modern technologies, it is now feasible to discover drugs for various human diseases with lower chances of failures during translational efforts. Alantis is focusing on a) biopharmaceuticals from snake venom with enhanced potency through molecular manipulations and b) developing multitargeting drugs for higher efficacy and specificity.
